GAC GROUP's L4 Robotaxi Recognized as "Typical Case of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Collaborative Development for the 15th National Games and Paralympic Games"

Deep News12-11

Recently, the evaluation results for typical cases of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao collaborative development for the 15th National Games and Paralympic Games were officially announced. GAC GROUP's submission, "Smart National Games, Technology-Driven: OnTime's Contribution to Launching the World's First L4 Autonomous Driving Fleet for Event Services in Guangzhou," was recognized as a typical case—the only autonomous driving service case selected.

As the exclusive automotive partner for the 15th National Games and Paralympic Games, GAC GROUP leveraged technology to enhance sports, providing comprehensive and high-quality service support for the event. During the games, OnTime, a subsidiary of GAC GROUP, facilitated the first large-scale application of L4 high-level autonomous driving technology in a global multi-sport event, creating a replicable and scalable "Guangzhou model" for smart mobility in major events.

OnTime deployed approximately 50 Robotaxis, including models such as the GAC Aion LX Plus and GAC Toyota Sienna S-AM, covering 11 autonomous driving routes in Guangzhou. These routes connected key locations such as transportation hubs, hotel clusters, opening ceremony venues, and media centers, offering safe and convenient smart mobility services for staff, media, spectators, and residents. Users could hail autonomous vehicles seamlessly via the official "National Games Guangzhou" mini-program or the OnTime app/mini-program.

By utilizing its mature hybrid dispatching system for both human-driven ride-hailing and Robotaxi services, along with extensive autonomous driving operational experience, OnTime successfully demonstrated the reliability and practicality of L4 autonomous driving technology in a real-world, high-density event traffic environment.

This recognition marks another milestone in OnTime's efforts to commercialize autonomous driving. Since pioneering the hybrid operation of human-driven ride-hailing and Robotaxi services globally in 2022, OnTime's Robotaxi services have expanded across key areas of the Greater Bay Area, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. As of September 2025, the platform operates over 300 Robotaxis with more than 10,000 service points, accumulating over 5 million kilometers in safe autonomous fleet operations—earning the reputation as "autonomous driving at your doorstep" for Greater Bay Area residents.

In July 2025, OnTime further upgraded its Robotaxi business with the launch of its "Robotaxi+" strategy. Leveraging its resource integration capabilities and compliance expertise, the platform now offers comprehensive solutions to local regulators, autonomous driving technology firms, and ecosystem partners, providing a standardized Robotaxi operational model.
