Roblox Faces Class Action Over Age Verification Impact, Lead Plaintiff Deadline August 7

Deep News03:50

The online gaming platform Roblox Corporation (NYSE: RBLX) is the subject of a securities fraud class action lawsuit. The deadline for investors to apply to serve as the lead plaintiff is August 7, 2026.

The legal action stems from the significant impact of the company's age verification measures on user growth. On October 30, 2025, Roblox announced it would implement mandatory age verification globally starting in January 2026, prompting investor concerns about the policy's effects. On April 30, 2026, the company released its first-quarter financial results and drastically lowered its full-year bookings guidance to a range of $7.33 to $7.6 billion, a reduction of nearly $1 billion from the previous quarter's forecast of $8.28 to $8.55 billion. The company projected annual bookings growth of just 8% to 12%. Roblox acknowledged that the new age verification process had slowed new user acquisition, weakened the platform's social features, and created operational pressures far exceeding initial expectations.

On the day following the earnings report, the company's stock price plummeted by 18% to $45.13. Since the third quarter of 2025, daily active users have declined from a peak of 152 million to 132 million.

The lawsuit alleges that Roblox and its executives, including CEO David Baszucki and CFO Naveen Chopra, made misleading statements during the class period from October 30, 2025, to April 30, 2026. The claims assert the company misrepresented the impact of age verification on growth, overstated its organic growth potential, and downplayed the risks of a user slowdown.

Investors who purchased Roblox common stock during the class period and suffered losses may apply to the court to serve as the lead plaintiff by the August 7 deadline.
