According to insiders familiar with the automotive supply industry, Volkswagen AG is preparing to suspend the production of some models due to supply bottlenecks of chips.
It has been reported that Volkswagen still has enough raw materials to maintain production this week; however, the company may need to halt production of certain models next week.
The first models expected to be suspended are the Golf produced at the main plant in Wolfsburg, followed shortly by the Tiguan.
A spokesperson for Volkswagen stated that the company is continuously monitoring the chip market and that the current supply is sufficient to support short-term production.
Media could not immediately reach Volkswagen for comment.
