VOYAH Auto's Xie Wenyun: User Attitudes Shift from "Hesitant" to "Willing" on Autonomous Driving, Accelerating Toward "Indispensable"

Deep News04-26

At the Second Autonomous Driving Industry Development Forum held in Beijing on April 25, Xie Wenyun, Deputy General Manager of VOYAH Auto Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a speech addressing the industry's transition from technological R&D to commercial scale.

Xie stated that the forum's theme accurately captures two core challenges: how to advance rapidly and how to ensure stability. On rapid advancement, he emphasized that success hinges on systemic capability rather than merely competing on technical specifications. He noted that China's automotive sector is progressing from being a "pioneer in intelligence" to navigating the "deep waters of autonomous driving." According to a China Association of Automobile Manufacturers report, the penetration rate of L2-level assisted driving in new vehicles is projected to reach 66% by 2025, with urban NOA penetration nearing 15%. The intelligent connected vehicle market is expected to surpass the trillion-yuan threshold. Underlying these figures is a fundamental shift in user attitudes: acceptance of intelligent driving has moved from "hesitation" to "willingness," accelerating toward "indispensability."

However, Xie cautioned against some companies engaging in a "specification race," mistakenly equating higher numbers with faster progress. VOYAH Auto believes the ultimate competition in autonomous driving lies in systemic capabilities. Speed is achieved not through parameter accumulation but through end-to-end system strength.

Regarding stability, Xie highlighted that safety represents the ultimate luxury, cultivated through extreme scenario testing rather than hardware stacking. While intelligence is an irreversible trend, safety remains paramount. VOYAH Auto upholds safety as the highest priority and most critical user experience. In developing new products, safety holds veto power; any technological iteration must prioritize user security.

Specifically, VOYAH Auto focuses on three areas: First, insisting on real-road testing to refine safety in extreme conditions. Second, establishing comprehensive safety standards to build a multi-dimensional protection system. Third, maintaining transparency and firmly opposing exaggerated claims about autonomous driving capabilities.

On technology implementation, Xie asserted that L3 conditional automation is not optional but a necessary step toward high-level autonomous driving. Contrary to voices in the industry advocating skipping L3 for direct L4 adoption, VOYAH Auto considers L3 an essential pathway.

In conclusion, Xie expressed that as practitioners in the automotive industry and explorers in autonomous driving, VOYAH Auto looks forward to accelerating the improvement of independent systems and, within regulatory frameworks, advancing conditional autonomous driving capabilities from testing to large-scale deployment.
