Japan's Industry Minister Plans to Raise EU EV Policy Concerns with German Chancellor Merz

Deep News09:50

Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ryosei Akazawa, has stated that he intends to express Japan's concerns regarding the European Union's electric vehicle policies to German Chancellor Merz this week.

Merz is scheduled to visit Japan from Wednesday to Thursday.

Akazawa hopes to speak with Merz in person at an economic summit attended by business leaders from both Japan and Germany.

Akazawa plans to clearly convey Japan's concern that it would be inappropriate for Japanese-made electric vehicles to be shut out of the European market.

In order to maintain and strengthen the industrial competitiveness of both Japan and the European Union, it is important that Japanese products, including electric vehicles, receive treatment equal to that of EU-manufactured products.
