On Tuesday, the semiconductor sector experienced a broad decline, with shares of major chipmakers falling sharply across the board. SanDisk Corp. (SNDK.US) led the downturn, dropping more than 6%, while Western Digital Corp. (WDC.US) and Seagate Technology Holdings PLC (STX.US) also saw losses exceeding 6%.
The sell-off extended to other prominent players in the industry, as SK Hynix Inc. (SKHY.US), Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT.US), and Intel Corp. (INTC.US) each fell more than 5%. Meanwhile, Micron Technology Inc. (MU.US), ASML Holding NV (ASML.US), and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD.US) declined by over 4%.
Further down the list, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSM.US) dropped more than 3%, while Broadcom Inc. (AVGO.US) and Nvidia Corp. (NVDA.US) both slipped by more than 2%, rounding out a challenging session for the sector.
