Fujian Encourages CATL and Fujian Nebula Electronics to Pilot Electric Ship Infrastructure Development

Deep News12-10

Fujian Province is advancing its electric ship industry with a new development plan. The Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology recently released a draft action plan for the electric ship industry from 2026 to 2028, aiming to promote "ship electrification, technological industrialization, industrial clustering, specialized construction, shore power integration, market-oriented operations, systematic management, and innovative models." The goal is to establish electric shipbuilding as a leading and competitive sector in Fujian.

The plan emphasizes cultivating globally competitive suppliers of core equipment, such as electric ship power batteries and propulsion systems, and aims to develop at least two internationally recognized brands. Additionally, it calls for accelerating the construction of charging and swapping infrastructure. Key areas include the Minjiang River basin and coastal waters, where companies like CATL and Fujian Nebula Electronics are encouraged to leverage their resources and technical expertise to pilot projects such as electric ship charging stations and refueling facilities.

The initiative also supports the introduction and development of manufacturers specializing in electric ship charging interfaces, promoting standardized, serialized, and industrialized growth of charging infrastructure to meet market demand.
