Summer Volunteer Service Offshoot of Jiangsu Mobile Brings Cool Relief to Local Communities

Deep News07-31

As persistent high temperatures continue, the enthusiasm for community service remains unwavering. China Mobile's Jiangsu branch, specifically the Lianyungang division, has recently sent its "Mobile Family" volunteer team into local neighborhoods to conduct a "Heartfelt Service Brings Cool Relief" initiative. The program offers a range of volunteer services including broadband health checks, digital assistance for seniors, and fraud prevention education, delivering summer care to residents.

At the event, the free broadband "checkup" service offered by the volunteer team was particularly well-received by the community. A resident named Aunt Wang, living in the New Culture residential area, reported that her home internet had been experiencing frequent lag, affecting her daily use. The volunteers immediately brought equipment to her home. After a careful inspection, they identified that an aging router was causing an unstable signal. They then optimized and adjusted the device, and also explained basic network maintenance knowledge to the elderly resident. "The internet speed is so smooth now, I'm really very grateful!" Aunt Wang said repeatedly after the issue was resolved.

To address the difficulties elderly people face in using smart devices, the volunteers provided hands-on guidance, teaching seniors how to make video calls, pay bills online, and perform other common functions. One elderly person, who had just learned to make a video call, happily remarked, "Now I can see my kids anytime I want, it's so convenient!" Meanwhile, volunteers also took on the role of "anti-fraud educators," using recent high-profile cases such as "fake customer service scams" and "pension fraud" to explain prevention tips in simple, easy-to-understand language. They reminded residents to adhere to the principle of "do not trust, do not transfer money, do not disclose personal information," which effectively raised awareness, especially among the elderly.

This initiative is a concrete step by the Lianyungang branch of China Mobile to implement its "Heartfelt Service" philosophy and drive service into the community. It not only solved practical problems for residents but also enhanced the public's sense of security and well-being in the digital age, demonstrating the company's social responsibility.
