Rajesh Jha, a key Microsoft executive overseeing Windows and Microsoft 365 applications such as Word and Teams, announced his retirement on Thursday after more than three decades with the company.
According to an internal memo sent to employees, Jha, who currently leads the Experiences + Devices division, will step down from his role on July 1 and continue at Microsoft in an advisory capacity.
The division is also responsible for Microsoft's own hardware business, including the Surface line of personal computers.
Jha also announced several personnel promotions: Jeff Teper has been elevated to Executive Vice President, while Sumit Chauhan and Kirk Koenigsbauer have been promoted to President. Jha stated that he and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella have been planning this transition for some time.
“Throughout my entire career at Microsoft, Rajesh has been by my side,” Nadella said.
Last month, Microsoft announced the retirement of Phil Spencer, head of its gaming division, and appointed insider Asha Sharma as Executive Vice President and CEO of that division.
