Taiwan's Power Shortage Concerns Highlighted by NVIDIA Founder, Taiwan Affairs Office Responds

On June 3, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. A reporter inquired about recent comments from NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang, who stated that "Taiwan needs more power."

Observers on the island have pointed out that these remarks highlight concerns about Taiwan's power supply capabilities, yet the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities consistently avoid confronting the critical energy issues affecting industrial development.

In response, Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhu Fenglian stated that the DPP authorities are single-mindedly focused on pursuing "Taiwan independence" and have neither the will nor the capability to address the structural problems facing the island's economic and social development.

Zhu Fenglian noted that the "power shortage" has become a significant weakness hindering the sustainable development of Taiwan's economy and society, a fact that is evident to all.

She further criticized the DPP authorities for politicizing the energy issue, not addressing it directly but instead using it as a tool for partisan rivalry and suppressing opponents. This, she said, exposes their prioritization of party interests over the well-being of the Taiwanese people and the island's future development.
