33,319 Units Installed! Completion Achieved Three Months Ahead of Schedule!

Recently, with the debugging and activation of the gas smart meter in the home of the last resident, this year's "Shanghai Municipal Practical Project for the People" in Huangpu District—the gas smart meter replacement and installation project—has been successfully completed, with a total of 33,319 gas smart meters installed, fulfilling the livelihood commitment to citizens ahead of schedule.

Technology empowers, and the safety defense line is upgraded once again. The gas smart meters replaced this time integrate multiple functions such as intelligent shut-off, abnormal alarms, and remote meter reading. When anomalies such as gas leaks or prolonged non-use are detected, the meter can automatically close the valve, effectively eliminating the hidden danger of traditional mechanical meters that "only measure, do not protect," adding an "intelligent lock" for the gas safety of residential households.

Focusing on key groups, the installation targets are more precise. During the promotion process, the project prioritized the inclusion of elderly people living alone, families with elderly members of advanced age, and users in high-rise residential buildings within the installation scope. For elderly people living alone, the District Construction Management Committee joined hands with the District Civil Affairs Bureau, various subdistricts, and gas companies to establish a community contact mechanism. While conducting door-to-door replacement and installation, they also provided gas safety publicity services, adding an "invisible protective net" for elderly people living alone. For high-rise residential buildings, the automatic shut-off function of smart meters effectively addresses the pain points of rapid gas leak spread and difficult disposal in high-rise buildings, significantly enhancing the overall safety factor of high-rise buildings, allowing residents to live with peace of mind and the elderly to feel warmth at home.

Promoted in batches, the livelihood project shows warmth. To ensure the smooth progress of the project, the District Construction Management Committee, together with various subdistricts and Shanghai Dazhong Gas Company, adopted a strategy of "promoting in batches and staggered construction." Through community publicity activities, advance notices, and telephone appointments, the impact on residents' daily lives was minimized to the greatest extent. The construction team strictly followed installation specifications, ensuring "work completed and site cleaned," winning widespread praise from residents.

Next, the District Construction Management Committee will continue to monitor the operation of smart meters, urge gas operating enterprises to provide follow-up service guarantees, and, in accordance with the city's unified deployment, gradually expand the coverage rate of shut-off type gas smart meters.
