The Electronic Data Center Laboratory for Comprehensive Market Supervision and Law Enforcement in Nanning, Guangxi, has successfully passed an expanded scope assessment for its accreditation as a testing and inspection body, adding electronic data authenticity verification to its capabilities.
This achievement makes it the first electronic forensics lab within the national market supervision system, following institutional reforms, to hold both "existence" and "authenticity" certifications under the China Metrology Accreditation (CMA) framework.
During the review, an expert panel conducted a comprehensive technical evaluation covering the institution's entity, personnel, facilities, equipment, and management systems in accordance with the relevant accreditation criteria.
The panel unanimously concluded that the laboratory's quality management system operates effectively and that its personnel, equipment, and environmental conditions all meet the required standards.
The successful expansion of its accreditation scope is expected to significantly enhance the laboratory's professional technical capabilities, marking a breakthrough in the technological support for digital law enforcement within Guangxi's market supervision sector.
The CMA certification is a nationally recognized, authoritative assessment of a testing institution's technical competence. Reports issued by accredited bodies carry legal weight and can serve as valid evidence in law enforcement and arbitration proceedings.
Verifying the authenticity of electronic data is a technically demanding task, requiring precise judgment on whether data has been tampered with or forged. Securing this accreditation fully demonstrates the laboratory's robust professional expertise in the field of electronic data forensics and verification.
It is understood that the laboratory was jointly established by the Guangxi Market Supervision Administration and the Nanning Market Supervision Administration in June 2024.
Since becoming operational, the lab has consistently received "double satisfactory" ratings in proficiency testing organized by the Institute of Forensic Science for two consecutive years, maintaining a high standard of comprehensive forensic capability within the industry.
Moving forward, the Nanning Market Supervision Administration will continue to optimize its quality management system and deepen the cultivation of interdisciplinary talent and technological innovation in "digital + law enforcement."
This effort aims to provide authoritative technical support for market regulators to accurately identify electronic evidence and combat illegal activities according to the law, thereby helping to maintain a fair and orderly market environment.
