Stock Track | Salesforce.com Plunges 5.28% in Pre-market as Key Executive Exit and Sector-Wide Selloff Weigh

Stock Track08-06

Salesforce.com (CRM) shares tumbled 5.28% in pre-market trading on Thursday, leading a broad decline across the application software space.

The drop came after the company announced that President and Chief Engineering & Customer Success Officer Srini Tallapragada officially stepped down effective August 6. Tallapragada, a core technology executive, will transition to a special advisor role to CEO Marc Benioff through August 2027. His departure has raised market concerns over the company’s product iteration pace and the execution of its AI strategy.

Adding to the selling pressure, the broader application software sector saw significant losses, with stocks like Figma, AppLovin, and Datadog posting double-digit declines. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley downgraded Salesforce.com to Equal-weight and slashed its price target from $287 to $185, citing that while AI agent product Agentforce has shown strong KPIs, legacy portfolio drag continues to offset incremental gains, leaving organic growth without a clear inflection point.
