Pusheng Biomass Energy Project Nears Operation with Approximately 500 Million Yuan Investment

Four large-scale anaerobic fermentation main tanks have been erected on site, core processing equipment is fully installed, and technical staff are currently conducting system commissioning as pre-production preparations advance in an orderly manner. This is the scene recently observed at the Pusheng Biomass Energy Comprehensive Utilization Project. With a total investment of approximately 500 million yuan, the project stands as a key initiative for investment attraction and university-industry technology commercialization in Pucheng County.

According to Zhou Hongwang, the project manager, the biogas pipeline connecting to China Resources Gas will be completed and begin supplying gas by September, with full-scale production expected to progressively commence across the entire project by October. Once operational, the biomethane produced here will be delivered through pipelines to industrial enterprises, supermarkets, and residential households across the county, adding new momentum to Pucheng's green development.

Pucheng is a major agricultural county. In recent years, as the industrial chain of Fujian Sunner Development (Pucheng) Co., Ltd. has gradually expanded, the county identified biomass energy projects as a breakthrough to drive green industrial transformation, aiming to more efficiently utilize manure and organic wastewater generated by poultry farms and meat processing plants. The advanced technologies of Jipeiyuanxin (Zhejiang) Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. in organic waste resource utilization happened to provide Pucheng with a comprehensive solution. With coordination led by the local government, Jipeiyuanxin, Fujian Pusheng Industrial Development Group Co., Ltd., and Fujian Sunner Development (Pucheng) Co., Ltd. jointly established Fujian Pusheng Biomass Energy Co., Ltd., with construction officially beginning in March 2025.

Following Zhou Hongwang into the project exhibition hall, a complete closed-loop circular economy technology system for "turning waste into treasure" is clearly presented. Relying on core innovative processes including efficient anaerobic fermentation, struvite crystallization, and anammox denitrification, livestock and poultry manure, agricultural waste, slaughterhouse and food processing organic wastewater all undergo transformation here. Through a closed-loop green industrial chain encompassing solid waste disposal, wastewater treatment, energy regeneration, and carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur resource recycling, previously difficult-to-manage "waste" is converted into raw materials for clean energy and organic fertilizer production.

According to the project design, once operational, it will process over 500 tons of chicken manure and 15,000 tons of food slaughter wastewater daily, while absorbing approximately 1,500 tons of livestock and poultry manure from pigs, cattle, and sheep across the county each day, Zhou Hongwang explained. Upon reaching full capacity in its first phase, annual biomethane production will reach 10 million cubic meters, potentially exceeding 20 million cubic meters when fully operational. Notably, the project will also produce 50,000 tons of premium bio-organic fertilizer annually and extract approximately 30,000 tons of high-purity green carbon dioxide from biogas, supporting the county's goals of standardized, large-scale, pollution-free, and resource-based closed-loop treatment of organic waste.

"This technology not only effectively addresses challenges such as livestock pollution, agricultural waste accumulation, and wastewater treatment in the county, but also enables on-site waste-to-resource conversion and circular regeneration. It represents a vivid practice of Pucheng's commitment to high-quality green development," said Jiang Xiaopeng, Chairman of Fujian Pusheng Industrial Development Group Co., Ltd.
