On April 16, LEAPMOTOR (09863) launched its D19 model in Jinhua, Zhejiang. As the first vehicle on the brand's flagship D platform, the D19 is positioned as a "tech-luxury flagship SUV." It aims to challenge the industry norm that "flagship means high price" by offering top-tier experiences in design, comfort, range, intelligence, driving dynamics, and safety, thereby redefining the value benchmark for full-size SUVs under 300,000 yuan. The model is available in both all-electric and extended-range powertrain options, with six- or seven-seat configurations to meet diverse user needs. The extended-range variants include a 400 Premium six-seat version priced at 219,800 yuan and a 500 Autonomous Driving six- or seven-seat version at 239,800 yuan. The all-electric lineup offers three versions: a 620 Autonomous Driving six-seat model at 239,800 yuan, a 720 Premium six- or seven-seat model at 249,800 yuan, and a 680 Tri-Motor Performance six-seat variant priced at 269,800 yuan.
This launch follows the introduction of the A10, LEAPMOTOR's first global model on its new A platform, on March 26. With a starting price of 65,800 to 86,800 yuan, the A10 set a new value standard for electric SUVs under 100,000 yuan, attracting over 30,000 orders within 20 days due to its high quality-to-price ratio.
The D19 showcases impressive technical capabilities. It offers both extended-range and all-electric powertrains, leveraging global-leading battery technology and high-voltage architecture to address range anxiety. The extended-range version features an 80.3 kWh dedicated battery with CATL's lithium iron phosphate cells, delivering a CLTC pure-electric range of 500 km for daily commutes and fuel support for long trips. The model also pioneers extended-range CTC (cell-to-chassis) integration and supports 800V fast charging, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in approximately 15 minutes. Co-developed with ZF, its integrated motor-generator four-wheel-drive system allows intelligent switching between driving and power generation, reducing weight by 50% and volume by 30% while maintaining high efficiency and strong performance.
The all-electric version is equipped with a 115 kWh CATL hybrid battery cell, balancing high energy density, safety, and longevity, with a CLTC range exceeding 720 km. Its full 1000V high-voltage architecture enables over 350 km of range replenishment in 15 minutes. Even at -7°C, the discharge power衰减 is limited to 10%, and the vehicle can deliver 504 kW of power with just 10% charge remaining. Additionally, the D19 uses a 34-in-1 integrated thermal management system that consolidates 21 components, saving 30% in vehicle layout space.
For autonomous driving, the D19 debuts a dual Qualcomm 8797 central domain control chip setup with 1280 TOPS of computing power, creating a unified cockpit-and-driving architecture. It incorporates a VLA large model and 28 high-precision sensors, including lidar, enabling 44 assisted driving functions. The system supports full-scenario navigation from parking spot to destination and features defensive driving capabilities, identifying risks in complex situations such as sudden deceleration by adjacent vehicles, blind-spot merging, narrow night roads, and construction zones. The cabin is equipped with an on-device full-modal AI model, evolving from reactive command execution to proactive assistance, acting as an intelligent "AI family管家."
The D19's chassis is 100% self-developed, featuring a front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension. The LMC 2.0 chassis motion fusion control system adds "intelligence," with an "active preview magic carpet" function that scans the road ahead and adjusts suspension settings for enhanced comfort. The model also includes Konghui dual-chamber air suspension, Tokico continuous damping control shock absorbers, Bosch Huayu R-EPS steering, Omowei (formerly Continental) MKC2 brake-by-wire, four-piston front fixed calipers, and Michelin high-performance tires, matching the hardware specifications of million-yuan luxury vehicles.
Safety is a cornerstone of the D19, developed to meet C-NCAP and C-IASI standards. Its "nine horizontal, three vertical, four strong rings" cage body structure uses 83% high-strength steel and aluminum, with 2000 MPa hot-formed steel applied in 16 key areas like the A-pillars for "armor-grade" passive protection. A leading nine-airbag configuration includes a full-length curtain airbag extending over 2.8 meters from the A to D-pillars, ensuring equal safety for all passengers. The battery features a ten-layer aerospace-grade protection system, withstanding temperatures over 1300°C and meeting 2026 safety standards by preventing fire or explosion for 72 hours post-thermal runaway. The AI BMS adaptive battery management system offers 99.8% accuracy in early warnings, detecting risks more than 30 days in advance.
Active safety systems include AEB and AES with broad operational ranges, integrated with an AI adaptive driving mode that seamlessly switches power settings within 500 milliseconds based on road conditions, ensuring rapid response in critical situations.
LEAPMOTOR's commitment to in-house research and development, with over 65% of core components self-developed, has enabled it to break industry pricing conventions. The D19, with its million-yuan-level features and innovative technologies, represents the "peak of flagship SUVs," potentially reshaping market expectations for vehicles under 300,000 yuan. This vertical integration supports cost efficiency, balancing growth and profitability. In 2025, the company doubled its sales and revenue, achieving a net profit of 540 million yuan—its first annual profit, making it the second new energy vehicle startup to reach profitability. Sales momentum continued into the first quarter of this year, with March deliveries reaching 50,029 units, securing its lead among emerging automakers.
The D19 launch highlights LEAPMOTOR's decade of technological积累, completing its coverage from mainstream to luxury flagship markets. With an expanding A-D series product matrix and sustained sales growth, the company is poised for both performance and valuation gains.
