SPDB Asset Management Renamed After French Partner's Restructuring

On August 13, SPDB AXA Fund Management announced a formal change to its legal name. The Chinese legal name has been officially changed from "浦银安盛基金管理有限公司" to "浦银基金管理有限公司," abbreviated as "浦银基金." The English name has shifted from "AXA SPDB Investment Managers Company Limited" to "SPDB Investment Managers Company Limited." The effective date of the name change is August 12, 2026, and the company has completed the industrial and commercial registration procedures.

According to the announcement, on January 27, 2026, the China Securities Regulatory Commission approved the absorption merger of the original shareholder, AXA Investment Managers S.A., by BNP Paribas Asset Management Holding S.A. under the approval document [2026] No. 177. BNP Paribas Asset Management Holding S.A. has become a shareholder, holding 39% of the fund manager's equity. After the shareholder change, the current shareholders are Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Co., Ltd., BNP Paribas Asset Management Holding S.A., and Shanghai Guosheng Group Asset Co., Ltd., holding 51%, 39%, and 10% of the equity, respectively.

The announcement also emphasized that this legal name change will not affect the terms, effectiveness, or performance of contracts and all legal documents signed under the original name. The company will subsequently make corresponding changes to the names of its public fund products. SPDB Fund Management Co., Ltd. was established in August 2007 as a Sino-French joint venture bank-backed fund management company. Its headquarters are in Shanghai, with branches in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen. It has a wholly-owned subsidiary, Shanghai SPDB AXA Asset Management Co., Ltd..

As of the end of the second quarter of 2026, the company managed 123 funds with total assets of 376.307 billion yuan, and non-monetary assets of 173.565 billion yuan, ranking 32nd among 162 companies. In terms of operating performance, SPDB AXA Fund Management achieved an operating revenue of 1.215 billion yuan and a net profit of 240 million yuan in 2025. This name change is the first since the company's establishment in 2007, potentially marking a new stage of development for this nearly two-decade-old Sino-French joint venture bank-backed fund company.
