Hong Kong Stocks Open Lower and Extend Losses, Hang Seng Tech Index Drops Over 3%

Hong Kong's stock market opened lower and continued to decline during the session. The Hang Seng Tech Index has fallen more than 3%, while the benchmark Hang Seng Index is down over 2%. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index has recorded nine consecutive days of declines, hitting its lowest level since April 2025, with a cumulative loss exceeding 16% for the year.

Among the constituents of the Hang Seng Tech Index, Sunny Optical Technology (Group) Company Limited shares have dropped more than 12%. Minimax shares are down over 8%, while Lenovo Group Limited shares have declined more than 7%. Zhipu AI shares have fallen over 6%. Shares of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) and Hua Hong Semiconductor Limited are both down more than 5%. Shares of NIO Inc., Alibaba Group Holding Limited, XPeng Inc., and BYD Company Limited have all decreased by more than 4%.
