Bitcoin's price remained relatively flat near $64,700 on Friday, showing little change over the past 24 hours. In contrast, the broader CoinDesk 20 (CD20) index slipped by 0.2% during the same period.
Meanwhile, escalating geopolitical risks in the Middle East, triggered by a Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia from Yemen, have pushed Brent crude oil prices above $83 per barrel. US Treasury yields have cooled slightly, but the 10-year yield still hovers at 4.67%.
Jurrien Timmer, head of global macro at Fidelity, commented that at this level, "history suggests that nothing good happens." Rising oil prices could fuel inflationary pressures, while elevated bond yields tighten financial conditions. The combination of these factors may reduce expectations for near-term interest rate cuts, putting downward pressure on Bitcoin and other risk assets.
Gold, meanwhile, continued its recovery, climbing 1.5% to trade at $4,300 per ounce as investors sought safe-haven assets amid the uncertainty.
