Shenzhen Transsion Holdings released its unaudited third-quarter 2026 results, showing a sharp sequential slowdown but solid year-to-date (YTD) growth supported by one-off gains.
Q3 PERFORMANCE • Operating revenue fell 27.45% year on year to RMB 14.85 billion, reflecting higher supply-chain costs and softer market demand. • Net profit attributable to shareholders slipped 8.40% to RMB 0.86 billion. • Net profit after deducting non-recurring items dropped 47.72% to RMB 0.44 billion, indicating that roughly half of quarterly earnings stemmed from non-operating sources—primarily fair-value gains on financial assets (RMB 0.46 billion) and government subsidies (RMB 0.46 billion). • The quarterly net margin stood at 5.8%, while the weighted average return on equity (ROE) eased to 4.03%, down 6.35 percentage points.
NINE-MONTH RESULTS • YTD operating revenue edged up 1.49% to RMB 50.28 billion. • Total profit rose 21.91% to RMB 3.29 billion, and net profit attributable to shareholders increased 22.44% to RMB 2.63 billion. • After stripping out non-recurring items, YTD attributable net profit grew 10.70% to RMB 1.92 billion. • Basic earnings per share improved to RMB 2.28 from RMB 1.88 a year earlier, driving YTD ROE to 12.40%, up 1.92 percentage points.
CASH FLOW AND BALANCE SHEET • Operating cash outflow reached RMB 9.87 billion, reversing a RMB 3.28 billion inflow a year ago, mainly due to front-loaded inventory purchases amid rising memory-chip prices. Inventories nearly doubled to RMB 17.32 billion. • Cash and cash equivalents fell to RMB 6.52 billion from RMB 11.12 billion at the start of the year. • Short-term borrowings increased to RMB 4.57 billion, pushing total liabilities to RMB 24.99 billion. • Total assets stood at RMB 46.26 billion; equity attributable to shareholders reached RMB 21.05 billion, up 2.55% since year-end 2025.
R&D SPENDING Transsion maintained expansion in product development, investing RMB 0.84 billion in R&D during the quarter and RMB 2.48 billion YTD, representing 5.68% and 4.93% of revenue respectively—both higher than the prior-year ratios.
OUTLOOK SIGNALS FROM MANAGEMENT Management cited elevated component costs and a contracting handset market as key headwinds during the quarter. The company built inventory to secure supply, pressuring cash flow but aiming to mitigate further cost inflation.
