American Airlines stated in a declaration that the company has not been involved in and has no intention of merging with United Airlines.
The statement indicated, "A merger with United Airlines would negatively affect competition and consumers, which is inconsistent with our understanding of government policy direction in the industry and antitrust law principles."
It further emphasized, "Our focus remains on executing our established strategic goals to position American Airlines for long-term competitive advantage."
