Xing Haihong: Supporting Urban Renewal with Responsibility, Helping the City Shine Anew

Deep News12-04

At a recent municipal urban development conference, Xing Haihong, Chairman of Jieyang Haihong Freight Co., Ltd., took the stage as both the first business owner affected by the Jieyang Sports Center project’s demolition and a representative of the Rongcheng District community. He shared his proactive response to urban renewal plans and full cooperation with the relocation process, demonstrating the responsibility of local enterprises in supporting their hometown’s development.

On September 29 this year, Xing was informed by officials from Dongsheng Subdistrict, Rongcheng District, that his freight site near Jieyang Yingbin Hotel would be requisitioned for the Jieyang Sports Center project. Recognizing the project’s significance in enhancing urban functionality and quality, Xing immediately pledged cooperation. He swiftly organized asset assessments and internal relocation arrangements, ensuring smooth progress for the demolition.

Despite having invested over 2 million yuan in the site, Xing proceeded with demolition even before signing the requisition agreement, finalizing compensation terms, or receiving payments. Some questioned his decision, calling it "unwise." However, Xing responded, "I trust the credibility of the Party and government. Policies will be fair, and those who support urban development won’t be disadvantaged."

Born in 1969 in Dongjiao Community, Xinxing Subdistrict, Rongcheng District, Xing has deep roots in Jieyang. Starting in the freight industry at 18, he spent nearly four decades expanding his business while remaining committed to his hometown’s progress. Witnessing Jieyang’s urban revitalization—including waterway restoration, historic district renovations, and cultural-tourism integration—he expressed admiration for the government’s pragmatic efforts in preserving the city’s heritage and improving livability.

"Businesses benefit from urban growth and should contribute to it," Xing emphasized in an interview. Learning that his freight site would become a sports park, he felt genuine joy. "This is a real benefit for residents and Jieyang’s future." He believes thriving cities and businesses are mutually reinforcing, and as a homegrown enterprise, his company must actively shoulder social responsibility.

Xing’s dedication goes beyond words—it translates into tangible support for urban renewal. His actions exemplify the symbiotic relationship between local entrepreneurs and their cities, inspiring more businesses to participate in hometown development.
