The Norwegian Offshore Directorate has granted Equinor a permit to drill an exploration well in the North Sea.
The permit is for well site 30/8-7 S within production license 190. Equinor is the operator of this license with a 50% interest, while its partners Petoro and TotalEnergies hold 40% and 10% working interests, respectively.
The drilling operation will be conducted using the Deepsea Bergen semi-submersible drilling rig, owned by Odfjell Drilling. This rig was formerly named Deepsea Bollsta.
Constructed in 2019, the rig features an enhanced CS 60 E harsh environment design, making it suitable for operations in both moderate and severe conditions, with a maximum operational water depth of 3,000 meters.
