SENSETIME-W (00020) saw its shares rally more than 7% during Monday's morning session, with the stock last trading up 6.32% at HK$1.515, on turnover of HK$837 million.
The surge comes after the company released its interim results, posting first-half revenue of HK$2.911 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23.4%. Gross profit climbed 32.9% to HK$1.206 billion, with gross margin expanding by 2.9 percentage points to 41.4%. The group also made its first-ever disclosure of recurring revenue at HK$1.14 billion, representing 39.3% of total revenue, and achieved its maiden profit under International Financial Reporting Standards of HK$617 million.
Within the business mix, generative AI revenue reached HK$2.33 billion, accounting for nearly 80% of total revenue. Overseas business also delivered standout performance, with revenue jumping 127% year-on-year, far outpacing the group's overall growth rate.
Analysts note that the significance of the earnings announcement extends far beyond the HK$617 million profit figure itself—it validates a fundamental shift in the company's valuation anchor. SENSETIME-W is transitioning from a model company that sells APIs and computing power to a service-oriented enterprise that delivers trusted multimodal intelligent agent capabilities. The real re-rating opportunity lies in the valuation anchor moving from model capability to commercial monetization strength, which is where the market's attention should now be focused.
