At 7:10 AM on May 18th, in the Guizhou Xingren Economic Development Zone, Huang Yi finished his breakfast and set off on his motorcycle. Ten minutes later, he arrived at the workshop of Guizhou Xinchuang Manganese Technology Co., Ltd. located in the Baling Heavy Industrial Park, ready to start his day's work—operating intelligent equipment to precisely strip manganese sheets from cathode plates. For several years prior, Huang Yi had been farming at home, growing leeks and raising pigs. This year, when the factory near his home began recruiting, he decisively applied. "Now I earn a stable monthly salary of 3,800 yuan, and I can still take care of my family," Huang Yi said. "This position is at the end of the production line; every detail must be managed to ensure product quality." Huang Yi skillfully oversees the post-processing procedures. From knocking the manganese sheets off in the stripping room to bagging them on the conveyor belt, although he is new to the job, he has already taken on a critical role. "I never imagined such a large enterprise could be built right at my doorstep, allowing me to become a worker." The No. 1 workshop where Huang Yi works currently produces 50 tons of manganese sheets per day. By the end of the month, when both workshops of the first phase are fully operational, daily output will increase to 110 tons, creating jobs for 170 people. Once the entire project is fully operational, it is expected to directly employ around 400 people and indirectly support nearly 900 additional jobs in areas like transportation.
Similarly, just a few hundred meters away at Guizhou Huajun Aluminum Technology Co., Ltd., employee Ran Longbo has also found a new direction in life through local employment. His story, however, carries more elements of adventure and transformation. In 2020, Ran Longbo was working in another province. A chance opportunity arose when his father informed him of a recruitment notice: Guizhou Huajun Aluminum Technology Co., Ltd., a key implementation unit for east-west industrial collaboration projects, was hiring. Young and middle-aged candidates would be sent to Ningbo, Zhejiang Province for paid training, and upon qualification, would return to Xingren as technical backbones. "Seeing that information, I was incredibly excited; I knew an opportunity for change had come," Ran Longbo recalled, and he quickly applied. In early 2020, he and several fellow migrant workers from his hometown traveled to Ningbo Shenma Group for a year-long technical training program. A year later, Ran Longbo had not only mastered the full-line process operations but also grasped core technologies. In early 2021, he returned to the Baling Heavy Industrial Park with his fellow villagers as a skilled technician and joined the workshop of Guizhou Huajun Aluminum Technology Co., Ltd. He was assigned to lead the most critical quality control team as its group leader. Challenges followed. Most of the newly hired local employees had no prior experience in the aluminum industry, requiring hands-on training for every task. Ran Longbo unreservedly shared his technical knowledge with the new staff and patiently counseled those who considered giving up. Within just a few years, he transformed from a wandering migrant worker into a dedicated "master craftsman." Today, Ran Longbo lives in Xiaopingzhai Village, Baling Town, just a five to six-minute bike ride from the company. His average monthly salary is 8,000 yuan, reaching over 10,000 yuan in months with good performance. "The company currently has over 170 employees, 90% of whom are local," said Mao Anji, Deputy General Manager of Guizhou Huajun Aluminum Technology Co., Ltd.
Driven by industrial chain development, Xingren City is unleashing strong employment absorption capacity. Just the two companies, Guizhou Xinchuang Manganese Technology Co., Ltd. and Guizhou Huajun Aluminum Technology Co., Ltd., have already directly employed over 340 people. Looking at the entire industrial park, the aluminum industry chain alone has directly facilitated stable employment for more than 3,000 people. "While park enterprises provide a large number of positions, we continuously broaden employment channels through a combination of online and offline recruitment, skills training, and policy support," explained Feng Mei, Director of the Xingren Employment Bureau. Currently, the Xingren Economic Development Zone comprises two core parks: the Luguan Light Industrial Park and the Baling Heavy Industrial Park, forming a "one zone, two parks" structure. This setup directly addresses employment for over 5,000 people, creating a virtuous cycle of industrial agglomeration and employment expansion.
