On December 18, train tickets for New Year's Day 2026 officially went on sale. This year's holiday period is two days longer than last year, boosting demand for short-distance travel. Data from Meituan Travel shows that New Year's travel bookings surged nearly fivefold compared to the same period last year. The most popular cities for train travel include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Harbin, and Nanjing. For air travel, Guangzhou emerged as the top domestic destination for New Year's Eve celebrations. Notably, post-95s (those born after 1995) dominate as the primary demographic for holiday travel.
