U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated in a post on X that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on several digital wallets associated with Iran's central bank, resulting in the freezing of over $130 million in funds.
Yellen said, "We will continue to actively track the flow of funds to prevent the Iranian regime from accessing its illicit revenue."
This action follows a recent move by the U.S. Treasury Department to add several Iran-related entities, individuals, and vessels to its sanctions list.
