On September 4th, the Danyang Municipal People's Government and Alibaba Qwen entered into a strategic partnership designed to enhance collaboration across several critical facets of the AI eyewear industry, specifically focusing on lens supply for Qwen AI glasses, optometry and fitting services, and ancillary supporting resources. This initiative aims to significantly broaden the range of lens options available to users, encompassing categories such as myopia, presbyopia, solar, and photochromic lenses, while also refining the overall customer experience related to fitting, installation, and after-sales support.

A notable highlight of the signing ceremony was the separate supply and demand cooperation agreement inked between Alibaba Qwen and Jiangsu Meile Group, a prominent enterprise based in Danyang. This agreement is poised to serve as a vital industrial pillar for the practical implementation of the broader strategic collaboration. The event was attended by key government officials including Wu Qingwen, Secretary of the Zhenjiang Municipal Party Committee; Xu Shenfeng, Member of the Zhenjiang Municipal Standing Committee and Secretary of the Danyang Municipal Party Committee; Chen Qiuming, Deputy Secretary of the Danyang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; and Yu Bin, Member of the Danyang Municipal Standing Committee and Director of the Development Zone's Party Working Committee and Management Committee. Representing Alibaba were Song Gang, Vice President of the Qwen Business Unit and General Manager of Qwen AI Hardware, and Ming Xing, Vice President of Strategic Development at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, who both attended and witnessed the signing.

As a leading brand in the domestic AI glasses market, Qwen AI has established a product portfolio that includes models such as the S1 and G1, continually pushing the boundaries of how AI glasses are integrated into daily life scenarios. On the other side of the partnership, Jiangsu Meile Group serves as a crucial industrial partner, having consistently pursued a strategy of digital transformation and joint venture collaboration. The company manages several optometry subsidiaries and joint ventures, steadily transitioning its operations from traditional processing and manufacturing towards a more brand-oriented and digitally advanced business model. This new agreement with Alibaba Qwen is expected to facilitate a precise alignment between the terminal demand for AI glasses and Danyang's robust eyeglass supply chain, injecting substantial momentum into the city's specialized future industry of visual intelligence.

Danyang, renowned as the "Capital of Glasses in China," stands as the world's largest production base for lenses and Asia's largest distribution hub for eyewear. Throughout this year, the city has made steady and significant progress in upgrading its visual optics industry. Efforts have included attracting numerous smart eyewear sales companies and assembly line projects for complete smart glasses, nurturing over ten enterprises focused on visual intelligence, and fostering partnerships between local companies and major tech players like Baidu and Zhuhai Mojie Technology. Furthermore, an AI glasses exhibition hall now features more than 30 brands. In terms of application development, Danyang has publicly solicited proposals for smart glasses use cases, achieving initial results in crucial sectors including cultural tourism, education, public safety, and healthcare. To cultivate a thriving industrial ecosystem, the city has developed a comprehensive support framework addressing intellectual property, talent development, and policy incentives, all aimed at accelerating the transformation of the visual optics sector.

Following this strategic collaboration with Alibaba Qwen, Danyang is set to continuously optimize the AI glasses supply chain ecosystem. The city intends to actively encourage more of its high-quality eyewear companies to integrate into the AI sector, foster the development of new quality productive forces within the visual optics industry, and expedite its journey toward becoming a globally influential hub for visual optics innovation.
