South Korea's SK Group announced on Friday that it generated social value amounting to 32.2 trillion won (approximately $209 billion) in 2025, marking a 23.8% increase from the previous year, as the conglomerate continues to advance its sustainability initiatives.

Since first disclosing its social value data of 16 trillion won in 2018, the group has annually reported its non-financial performance outcomes across environmental, social, and other domains.

The group attributed last year's growth primarily to significantly improved earnings at its subsidiary companies, particularly the chipmaker SK Hynix, which led to a substantial rise in economic contribution, a development driven by the favorable industry cycle.

According to the group's estimates, the 2025 social value figure comprises 31.8 trillion won in indirect economic contribution. After deducting 3.1 trillion won in environment-related costs and adding 3.4 trillion won in society-related contributions, the total reached approximately 32.2 trillion won.

A company executive stated, "We are committed to integrating artificial intelligence into our accumulated knowledge systems to lower the barriers for measuring social value and to contribute to the objective assessment and resolution of societal issues."

SK Group indicated that the detailed results of this year's assessment will be published on the group's website later this month.
