Jasjeet Sekhon, Chief Scientist and Head of Artificial Intelligence at Bridgewater Associates, is set to join DeepMind, Google's AI division, as Chief Strategy Officer, according to an announcement by DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis.

Hassabis stated via social media that following his departure, Sekhon will join Bridgewater's board of directors.

Over the past year, DeepMind has launched several new AI products, including an upgraded chatbot, the Gemini AI model, and a new AI photo editor called Nano Banana. Advances in artificial intelligence at Google have contributed to a near doubling of its stock price over the last twelve months.

Sekhon joined Bridgewater in 2018 and played a key role in developing its AI research and investment lab, AIA Labs, which is led by Bridgewater Co-CIO Greg Jensen.

Sekhon did not hold any investment roles at Bridgewater previously but has served as a professor at several U.S. universities, including Harvard University, UC Berkeley, and Yale University.
