Man from Central China Vanishes in Thailand, Feared Trafficked to Myanmar's Myawaddy; Pregnant Wife Expresses Desperation

Deep News05-26

A man from Henan province is suspected of having been trafficked to the Myawaddy industrial park in Myanmar after losing contact during a business trip to Thailand. His wife, Ms. Wang, who is nine months pregnant, reported that her husband, Li Lin, had traveled to Thailand on March 6 following an introduction by a friend. Initially maintaining contact, Li Lin ceased communication in the early hours of March 7 after changing vehicles late the previous night. Ms. Wang later received a secret message from him stating that the park forces employees to meet performance quotas, subjecting them to physical punishment for failure. Deeply worried for her husband's safety as she nears her due date, Ms. Wang has filed reports with both Thai and Chinese authorities, with the Jiaozuo police having initiated an investigation.
