Samsung Electronics and IKEA Collaborate to Expand SmartThings IoT Platform

Deep News04-21

Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its SmartThings smart home connectivity platform to support products from Swedish furniture giant IKEA. In a press release, Samsung stated that 25 new IKEA products—including roller remotes, smart lights, smart plugs, and air quality sensors—are now compatible with the Matter smart home connectivity standard. Matter is an open-source, unified smart home standard that enables seamless interoperability between devices from different manufacturers, including Apple, Google, and Samsung. Users can connect IKEA products to the SmartThings platform without additional setup and integrate them with Samsung home appliances. The South Korean tech giant said it has partnered with IKEA to improve the connection stability of the SmartThings platform.
