In the early summer of Haikou, the Jiangdong New Area is bustling with construction activity. Several key projects in education, headquarters economy, and supply chains are progressing at a rapid pace, injecting strong momentum into Haikou's high-quality development.
The first phase of the Football College project at Hainan Normal University's Guilingyang Campus has successfully completed the construction up to the ground floor level, marking a transition from underground foundation work to above-ground structural development. The project site, covering approximately 33,000 square meters with a total floor area of 37,000 square meters, is a hive of activity with concrete mixers and tower cranes in full operation. Upon completion, the facility, which will include a training and rehabilitation center, teaching and research buildings, and a comprehensive building, aims to become a pilot zone for sports industry reform in the Hainan Free Trade Port and a model for sports vocational education innovation.
To ensure timely completion, the project management has implemented multiple measures, including a two-shift work schedule and comprehensive resource allocation, with over 400 workers currently on site.
Simultaneously, the Hainan Consulting & Design Building project is also advancing swiftly. Since its commencement in October 2024, the project team has been steadily progressing toward the goal of completion by the end of June 2026. Currently in the final stages of interior finishing, curtain wall installation, and landscaping, the site employs over 300 workers to meet the delivery deadline. The project prioritizes safety and quality, implementing a "sample-first" system for all construction processes to ensure standardized and regulated workmanship.
The Hainan Consulting & Design Building is designed to house functional spaces, reception areas, offices, and meeting rooms. Once completed, it will serve as a comprehensive industrial base integrating design consulting, scientific research, innovation, and business incubation, attracting high-quality design enterprises from both within and outside the island.
Furthermore, the Hainan JD.com Supply Chain Headquarters project is progressing rapidly with secondary structure work and interior decoration. As a regional hub for JD.com in Hainan, the facility will support the company's international business, supply chain operations, and technology services upon completion. The project has achieved an overall progress rate of 50%, with a total investment of approximately 400 million yuan and about 228 million yuan in fixed-asset investment completed. Currently, 170 workers are operating at full capacity on site.
The accelerated progress of these projects is supported by the efficient "streamlined approval" services provided by the Haikou Jiangdong New Area Administration. The administration has implemented a commitment-based approval system, proactively addressed enterprise needs, and assigned dedicated liaisons to each project to resolve construction challenges promptly, ensuring smooth and rapid advancement of key infrastructure initiatives.
