Stock News07-30

PCCW (00008) has released its interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, showing a consolidated revenue of HK$20.204 billion, up 7% year-on-year. The loss attributable to equity holders narrowed 38% to HK$276 million, with a basic loss per share of HK3.57 cents.

For the period, PCCW's Hong Kong Telecom (HKT) segment demonstrated business resilience, driven by its AI-ready infrastructure, disciplined execution, and innovation investments. HKT accelerated AI integration into network operations and customer services, enhancing efficiency and opening new growth opportunities. Broadband revenue grew 3% due to sustained demand for high-speed, ultra-low latency fiber services, supporting digital entertainment, hybrid work, smart home applications, and AI-driven services. As of June 2026, fiber-to-the-home connections reached 1.101 million, a net increase of 46,000 or 4% year-on-year, representing 74% of the consumer market's 1.497 million broadband lines.

Enterprise business continued to grow strongly, with local data revenue rising 8% year-on-year. By providing end-to-end solutions, PCCW helped clients transform operations, improve efficiency, and create new value in the evolving digital economy. Leveraging AI and its portfolio of mission-critical enterprise solutions, the company secured numerous project contracts in the first half of 2026, totaling over HK$2.2 billion.

A key highlight was the exclusive broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which provided opportunities for upselling and cross-selling tailored promotions, attracting new customers, particularly non-HKT subscribers. Now TV's installed user base grew from 1.448 million last year to 1.490 million. Consequently, local telecommunications service revenue increased 3% to HK$9.014 billion.

International telecommunications service revenue rose 2% to HK$3.899 billion, driven by growth in data and international voice wholesale revenue, as well as increased demand for the Console Connect software-defined cloud interconnection platform. Notably, demand from Chinese mainland OTT users saw healthy growth, with revenue increasing over 50%.
