AH Shares Rally in Early Trading: ChiNext Up 1%, Memory Chip Stocks Surge, Hang Seng Tech Index Gains 1%

On April 14, A-shares opened collectively higher in the morning session, with the three major stock indices rising at the start of trading. The ChiNext Index gained 1%, while concept stocks related to memory chips, circuit boards, and semiconductor equipment saw significant increases. Lithium battery stocks remained active. Hong Kong stocks also advanced, with both the Hang Seng Index and the Hang Seng Tech Index rising by 1%. Technology and internet stocks broadly rebounded.

In the bond market, treasury futures mostly declined. In commodities, most domestic commodities saw price increases, with polysilicon rising over 4% and lithium carbonate up 3%. Key market movements are as follows:

A-shares: As of the latest update, the Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.34%, the Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.66%, and the ChiNext Index increased by 0.78%.

Hong Kong stocks: As of the latest update, the Hang Seng Index gained 1.09%, and the Hang Seng Tech Index advanced 1.25%.

Bond market: Treasury futures were mostly lower. As of the latest update, the 30-year main contract fell 0.02%, the 10-year main contract rose 0.02%, the 5-year main contract declined 0.01%, and the 2-year main contract dropped 0.01%.

Commodities: Most domestic commodity futures prices increased. As of the latest update, polysilicon was up over 4%. Nickel, tin, and lithium carbonate futures rose by 2%. Copper, palladium, platinum, and silver futures gained over 1%. Aluminum, rubber, iron ore, coking coal, silicon manganese, gold, hot-rolled coil, eggs, rebar, industrial silicon, and alumina also moved higher. Coke, stainless steel, glass, soybean meal, and crude oil declined. Caustic soda, propylene, fuel oil, and methanol fell over 1%. Ethylene glycol, asphalt, and the containerized freight index dropped more than 2%, while rapeseed declined over 3%.

At 09:47, memory chip concept stocks were active. Dawei Shares hit the daily limit-up. Biwin Storage and Deming Li continued to reach record highs. Shannon芯创, Puyuan Technology, Jiangbolong, and Ingenic Semiconductor followed with gains. Reports indicated that Western Digital has begun engaging with partners in materials, components, and equipment to build an ecosystem for an HBF prototype production line. Additionally, memory chip giant Western Digital surged over 11%, also reaching a new record high.

At 09:46, the onshore yuan strengthened against the US dollar, breaking through the 6.82 level to reach its highest point since March 2023.

At 09:41, lithium battery concept stocks remained active. Shida Shenghua hit its daily limit for the second time in three days. Tengyuan Cobalt approached a 20% limit-up. Hanrui Cobalt, Shenghui Lithium, Do-Fluoride, and Haike Xinyuan also advanced.

At 09:36, PCB (printed circuit board) concept stocks were active. Upstream materials like electronic cloth and electronic resin continued to lead gains. Hongchang Electronics hit the daily limit-up, and Honghe Technology touched the limit-up, both reaching record highs. Zhongying Technology, Wus Printed Circuit Board, Fangbang, and Avary Holding followed suit. Analysts suggest that as AI servers continue to upgrade, PCBs are evolving from traditional multi-layer boards towards high-layer count and advanced HDI designs. In the long term, computing power is accelerating towards ASIC specialization, and the PCB value per unit for ASIC server motherboards is significantly higher than for comparable GPU servers.

At 09:33, the onshore yuan rose 138 basis points against the US dollar to 6.82, marking its highest level since March 23, 2023.

At 09:26, the Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.46% higher, and the ChiNext Index opened up 0.88%. AI application, intelligent agent, industrial metal, computing power leasing, semiconductor, humanoid robot, and glass fiber concept stocks led the gains. Oil and gas, coal, and cross-strait integration sectors weakened.

At 09:21, the Hang Seng Index opened 1.05% higher, and the Hang Seng Tech Index opened up 1.37%. Kingsoft rose over 7%, Kingdee International increased over 5%, while Hua Hong Semiconductor, Bilibili, and SMIC advanced over 3%.

At 09:10, the main polysilicon futures contract rose over 4% intraday, quoted at 35,255 yuan per ton, after having fallen nearly 1% earlier.

At 09:01, at the commodity futures market open, the main low-sulfur fuel oil contract fell over 5%. Asphalt and fuel oil dropped over 3%. Liquefied petroleum gas, ethylene glycol, and styrene declined over 2%. Nickel futures rose over 2%. Copper, tin, international copper, aluminum, paraxylene, aluminum alloy, and technically specified rubber 20 gained over 1%.
