Ant Group CEO Advocates AI's Role in Human Welfare Beyond Productivity

Deep News03-23

At the 2026 China Development Forum held on the afternoon of March 23, Ant Group Co., Ltd. CEO Han Xinyi delivered a speech titled "Challenges and Shared Prosperity in the AI Industry." He emphasized that artificial intelligence applications should not only serve as productivity tools but also bring tangible benefits to humanity. However, to ensure AI drives shared prosperity, the industry must collaborate to address challenges and explore solutions.

Han Xinyi outlined four key challenges that need collective action to achieve shared prosperity in the AI era: underlying computing power and energy consumption, security issues related to models and data, ensuring AI applications genuinely contribute to human welfare, and addressing human development concerns. He stated, "Confronted with these four major challenges, the industry should take proactive steps and seek systematic solutions."

Han Xinyi noted that Ant Group Co., Ltd. committed to a net-zero emissions target by 2030 back in 2021. The rapid advancement of AI has made achieving this goal more challenging. After repeated calculations and evaluations, Ant Group Co., Ltd. remains committed to its net-zero target. The company plans to address this by building a green computing technology system, reducing energy consumption per effective token, and implementing precise green energy demand plans. This approach indicates that green computing efforts must extend beyond infrastructure to enhance model intelligence and reliability while minimizing the generation of ineffective tokens.
