China Banking Association Issues 2026 Annual Report on Financial Leasing Industry Development

The China Banking Association has officially released the China Financial Leasing Industry Development Report (2026) (the "Report"), marking the ninth consecutive year the association's Financial Leasing Professional Committee has published this annual industry analysis.

According to the Report, by the end of 2025, the total asset size of the industry reached 5.23 trillion yuan, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 7.89%. The non-performing financing lease asset ratio stood at 0.91%, showing a steady decline year-on-year, highlighting enhanced risk management effectiveness and a gradual improvement in the industry's overall risk resilience.

By the end of 2025, the balance of direct lease assets in the industry was 1.84 trillion yuan, up 21.05% year-on-year, with direct lease assets accounting for 39.74% of total lease asset balances. This underscores significant progress in the industry's return to its core leasing business and specialization, continuously injecting financial momentum into the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing sector.

Additionally, by the end of 2025, the balance of operating lease assets reached 1.07 trillion yuan, a 10.25% year-on-year increase, with new placements totaling 238.25 billion yuan, up 11.46% year-on-year. The industry has steadily consolidated its traditional stronghold in areas such as aviation, shipping, and large-scale equipment, while accelerating the transition towards an asset lifecycle management service model, effectively supporting the optimization of the real economy's structure and industrial capability upgrades.

Furthermore, by the end of 2025, the balance of computing power lease assets was 97.262 billion yuan, a surge of 109.89% year-on-year, while the balance of new energy storage lease assets reached 56.732 billion yuan, soaring 154.66% year-on-year. Concurrently, the industry is actively expanding leasing applications in emerging sectors like commercial aerospace and the low-altitude economy, with the science and technology track fully emerging as a core driver for the high-quality development of the financial leasing industry.
