On August 7, the Hithium Shandong Long-Duration Energy Storage Integrated Industrial Park in the Luxi New District of Heze officially commenced mass production, marking the world's first dedicated industrial park for long-duration energy storage. The project spans approximately 1,200 mu (about 80 hectares) with a total investment of over 13 billion yuan across the entire supply chain. Construction began in October 2024 and has reached production completion nearly two years ahead of the original schedule, signifying that China's long-duration energy storage industry has achieved a pioneering capability for integrated, full-chain, large-scale industrial manufacturing and delivery.
The base is fully equipped with Hithium's self-developed fifth-generation intelligent manufacturing production lines, achieving an industry-first breakthrough with a single production line capacity exceeding 15 GWh. It fully integrates the entire value chain, from core materials to cell manufacturing, module assembly, and system delivery. Once fully operational, the facility will produce 30 GWh of 1175Ah long-duration energy storage cells and 20 GWh of 6.25MWh energy storage systems annually. These products are precisely designed for 4-to-8-hour long-duration energy storage scenarios, effectively addressing the intermittency and volatility of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power. They can serve diverse applications, including peak shaving and frequency regulation on the generation side, commercial and industrial emergency backup power, and residential energy storage.
At the mass production launch event, Hithium co-founder and president Wang Pengcheng stated, "Technical depth sets the ceiling, while manufacturing builds the foundation." He emphasized that Hithium remains focused on the core 4-to-8-hour long-duration energy storage赛道, leveraging the Heze large-scale production base to propel the global lithium-ion long-duration energy storage market from a phase of "demonstration projects" into a new era of "mass deployment." This effort aims to build a comprehensive, full-scenario long-duration energy storage capability that serves the global market.
