Cainiao and 4PX Overseas Supply Chain have officially launched two new warehouses in Paris, France, and Mannheim, Germany, as part of their ongoing European expansion. The facilities are designed to handle bulky goods storage and provide local delivery services, with the initial shipments already successfully stored on-site.
Cainiao Vice President and Head of Overseas Supply Chain, Chen Taotao, highlighted the driving forces behind the growing demand for European warehousing. "In the short term, European tax reforms are a factor, but in the long run, the rising popularity of Chinese smart manufacturing and the increasing e-commerce penetration in Europe will continue to fuel substantial growth in logistics supply chain needs," he stated. Beyond expanding its warehouse network, Cainiao is leveraging new technologies across Europe to enhance consumer experiences in collaboration with merchants.
Among the latest innovations, Cainiao's self-developed next-generation climbing robot warehouse is set to be deployed in the Netherlands and Spain, significantly boosting operational efficiency. Additionally, AI-powered premium delivery solutions are being rolled out across multiple European countries, helping small and medium-sized businesses select high-quality last-mile service providers.
Since April of this year, Cainiao has opened seven new warehouses across Europe, spanning the Netherlands, France, Spain, Poland, the UK, and Germany, with France alone accounting for two of these additions. To date, Cainiao's overseas supply chain operates more than 70 warehouses across 18 countries and regions globally.
