XTALPI (02228) shares climbed more than 5% in Hong Kong trading, with the stock last up 4.3% at HK$8.86, on turnover of HK$731 million. The move follows the company's announcement that its scientific AI agent platform, XtalPi Science, has completed a significant product upgrade, officially launching over 80 proprietary scientific skills and tools while expanding its invitation-only testing scope.
In internal evaluations, the platform demonstrated superior performance to Claude across multiple drug discovery tasks. This year, scientific research has emerged as a key frontier for AI agent deployment, following in the footsteps of software development. The trend is now extending into physical laboratory environments, with Anthropic recently establishing wet labs and exploring robot-executed experiments coordinated by Claude, further integrating AI agents with experimental systems.
During the first half of the year, the company's AI4S smart solutions segment experienced rapid growth, gradually becoming its core growth driver. Revenue from AI4S smart solutions reached RMB 194 million, up 136.4% year-over-year, with its share of total revenue rising from 15.8% to 49.2% compared to the same period last year. Both the intelligent robotics laboratory and smart services maintained robust growth momentum.
According to Guosheng Securities, the company has established a full-stack AI4S system that integrates scientific AI agents, computational models, automated laboratories, and data feedback loops. With commercial deployment advancing in drug development and new materials applications, the platform's value proposition is transitioning from technical validation to large-scale value realization.
