Nestle's Indian Unit Refutes Allegations of Insect Contamination in Instant Noodles

Deep News06-12

Indian food regulators received a complaint via social media and subsequently issued an inquiry to the consumer goods company, as reported by the Press Trust of India. On Friday, Nestle's Indian subsidiary denied the allegations concerning the presence of insect matter in its Maggi instant noodles.

The company stated in a declaration that the complaint originated from an unverified social media account. The brand had repeatedly requested a sample of the implicated product from the account user, who did not provide a response.

Nestle India indicated that it had sent reference samples from the same production batch to an independent third-party laboratory accredited by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for testing. The results from this analysis showed no evidence of insect infestation in the samples.

The corporation further added that it has already submitted the product quality dossier, the test reports, and a detailed explanation of the circumstances to the regulatory authorities.
