On May 4, local time, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the topic of energy cooperation with Venezuela during a small business summit.
Trump stated that the United States currently has "good relations" with Venezuela and described related actions as "progressing smoothly." He noted that major energy companies have begun entering Venezuela to develop resources.
Regarding energy collaboration, Trump claimed that the U.S. is obtaining "hundreds of millions of barrels of oil" from Venezuela, which is being transported to American regions, including Houston, for refining. He characterized the bilateral relationship as "almost like a partnership." He also emphasized that U.S. oil and natural gas production has reached record highs.
