As the Year of the Horse approaches, Zhengzhou is set to launch an extensive lineup of cultural and tourism activities during the nine-day Spring Festival holiday. Under the theme "2026 Bingwu Year: Witness Joy in Zhengzhou," the city will host more than 340 events across A-level tourist attractions, national and provincial resorts, leisure streets, and public cultural venues from Little New Year's Day to the 16th day of the first lunar month.
Highlights include traditional lantern festivals,惠民 performances, and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions. Key lantern events will take place in Fuminli, Green Expo Park, Jialu Water Town, and the Yellow Emperor's Hometown in Xinzheng, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern lighting technology to create immersive experiences.
The city will also roll out cultural惠民 initiatives. Zhengzhou Library will feature exhibitions such as "Ink and Fan Art" and "Ancient Charm in Classics," while Zhengzhou Art Museum will host free thematic exhibitions like "Zhou Jingxin: Fish" and "Fan·Food·Memory." Seven public venues, including Zhengzhou Museum and Henan South-to-North Water Diversion Museum, will invite experts to lead guided tours.
A collaborative campaign with Alipay will encourage residents to share New Year greetings on customized blackboards in public spaces. Cross-regional annual travel passes covering six cities, including Zhengzhou and Anyang, will be introduced, along with subsidies for travel agencies organizing group tours.
Intangible cultural heritage activities will include markets in iconic streets like Zhengzhou Memory 1952 Oil Factory Tourism Leisure Block, interactive experiences at Huaxia Handicraft Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall, and the debut of the "Ma Xiaowu" IP形象 integrating Horse Year symbolism with local culture. Traditional performances like dragon dances and fire pot shows will enhance the festive atmosphere.
Sports enthusiasts can enjoy 12 public fitness events, including亲子跳绳 competitions, skating, and chess tournaments. Over 30 museums and memorial halls will organize 100+ activities, such as theme exhibitions and hands-on workshops like rubbing prints and pottery-making.
Performing arts will take center stage with 118 shows, including operas, acrobatics, and symphonies. Key venues like Zhengzhou Grand Theatre and Henan Art Center will host highlights like the "Zhengzhou Has Drama" festival. From February 13 to March 8, Zhengzhou Acrobatic Troupe will present 82 performances of the children's show "Magic Forest."
Major tourist spots like Only Henan·Drama Fantasy City and Fantawild Adventure will offer limited-time shows and interactive experiences. Additional attractions include an immersive art exhibition on poet Li Qingzhao and an anime convention at Zhengzhou Grand Theatre.
Pop-up performances titled "Flowing Art" will be held in public spaces like Erqi Square and Bishagang Park, while free outdoor symphony and opera concerts will make高雅艺术 accessible to all. These efforts aim to blend Zhengzhou's historical heritage with festive celebrations, boosting tourism and cultural engagement during the holiday.
