According to informed sources, AI programming company Cognition AI Inc. has initiated preliminary discussions for a new funding round that would more than double its valuation to $25 billion. The company is capitalizing on rising market demand for businesses skilled in applying artificial intelligence to software development as it seeks financing.

An anonymous insider indicated that the AI programming startup plans to raise several hundred million dollars or more. Talks are ongoing, and funding terms remain subject to change.

Earlier this week, Elon Musk's SpaceX announced an agreement granting it the right to acquire fellow programming firm Cursor at a $60 billion valuation. Sources noted that while CognitionAI's funding discussions predated this news, the acquisition announcement has since attracted renewed investor interest.

A spokesperson for CognitionAI has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Following the Cursor acquisition news, the company's president, Russell Kaplan, posted on social platform X that the firm has seen an increase in both clients and potential job applicants. He stated, "In any sector, the more startups abandon independence to be acquired by large tech labs, the stronger the remaining independent companies become."

Founded in 2023, CognitionAI operates in the highly competitive AI programming space, leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence to streamline code writing and debugging processes. The company primarily serves enterprise clients, with its flagship product, Devin, marketed as the "world's first AI software engineer." Its website lists partners including Anduril Industries and Microsoft.
