ICBC Responds to 39.615 Million Yuan Fine: Issues Occurred Before 2023, All Rectified

On December 19, financial news reported that the People's Bank of China (PBOC) issued a penalty notice, imposing a fine of 39.615 million yuan on ICBC for 10 violations, including breaches of financial statistical regulations. The bank was also warned and ordered to forfeit illegal gains of 4.34570857 million yuan.

In response, ICBC stated that the penalties stemmed from issues identified during PBOC inspections conducted in 2021 and 2023, with all violations occurring before 2023. The bank emphasized its serious approach to the findings, having thoroughly analyzed root causes and completed rectifications. ICBC pledged to learn from the incident, strengthen risk prevention, enhance compliance, and improve service quality under the principle of "preventing risks, strengthening supervision, and promoting high-quality development."
