Global AI model call volumes reached 69 trillion tokens last week (August 3-9), a 21.48% increase from the prior week, according to the latest data from leading AI aggregation platform OpenRouter.
Chinese AI models contributed 34.25 trillion tokens in weekly call volume, up 21.76% week-over-week, while U.S. AI models saw 9.17 trillion tokens, surging 109.36% from the previous week. This marks the 15th consecutive week that Chinese large language models have outpaced their U.S. counterparts in total call volume, maintaining the top global position.
The top four spots in global weekly call volume were all held by Chinese AI models. DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731 led the ranking with 8.83 trillion tokens in weekly usage, a 570% jump from the prior week. Tencent Hy3 followed in second place with 8.05 trillion tokens, up 67% week-over-week. DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0423 ranked third with 5.88 trillion tokens, a 19% decline compared to the previous week.
