China Everbright Bank Vice President: Crafting Distinctive Advantages and Achieving Differentiated Growth Are Essential for Banks' Strategic Transformation

Deep News08-28

At a mid-year business briefing held on August 28, China Everbright Bank Company Limited Vice President Wang Yongqi addressed the sector's pressing issues, noting that banks today confront a broad array of hurdles, including financing disintermediation and tightening capital constraints. He emphasized that cultivating unique strengths and pursuing differentiated development are essential for a successful strategic shift, while also pointing to tangible progress made in several key areas.

Within the domain of technology finance, the bank has established a dedicated organizational framework for this sector, guiding key branches to set up specialized sci-tech innovation centers. Wang highlighted the integration of three core functions—approval, investment banking, and private banking—alongside the rollout of innovative offerings such as R&D loans and investment-linked credit products. Enhanced digital support for tools like tech e-loans and specialized SME lending has driven notable growth in financing for high-priority tracks, including integrated circuits, computing power, AI+, embodied intelligence, intelligent connected new energy vehicles, and autonomous driving.

Regarding investment banking capabilities, Wang stressed a shift to align with clients' operational needs, leveraging a multi-product approach that spans bond underwriting, M&A financing, intermediary matchmaking, equity finance, and structured financing to consistently generate value. During the first half of the year, bond underwriting volume surpassed 200 billion yuan, ranking among the industry's top performers. Intermediary matchmaking and equity financing reached nearly 150 billion yuan, while securitization tools like ABS and ABN have been instrumental in revitalizing corporate balance sheets and boosting working capital liquidity.
