BYD Company Limited has officially launched its Seal 08, a large flagship sedan under its Ocean series, offering both plug-in hybrid and pure electric powertrains across six variants with an official guide price ranging from 196,900 to 239,900 yuan.
The Seal 08 features a body length of 5150mm and a wheelbase of 3030mm. It is available in six premium color options: Akar Coral Red, Glazed Silver, Misty White, Sea Mist Purple, Poseidon Green, and Obsidian Black, along with two exclusive dual-tone exterior schemes: High-gloss Quantum Silver with Poseidon Green and Glazed Silver with Sea Mist Purple. For the interior, four color themes are offered: Dawn Beige, Cloud Frost Beige, Misty Brown, and Nightfall Purple.
The vehicle is built on a native fast-charging platform. The plug-in hybrid version boasts a CLTC pure electric range of 400km and a total combined range of 1660km on a full tank and full charge, with a NEDC fuel consumption as low as 3.6 liters per 100 kilometers in charge-sustaining mode. The pure electric version offers a CLTC pure electric range of 905km.
Regarding battery safety, the Seal 08 is equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery, which has successfully passed rigorous testing standards far exceeding national requirements. For passive safety, it features a ten-horizontal, seven-vertical cage-style body structure, the Ocean series' first all-aluminum front and rear anti-collision beams, and a standard configuration of 11 airbags. In the realm of intelligent safety, the model comes standard with the advanced Tian Shen Zhi Yan B-assisted driving system with lidar, featuring Tian Shen Zhi Yan 5.0. This system covers both high-speed and urban navigation-assisted driving core scenarios and provides dual fallback guarantees for intelligent parking and urban navigation.
Inside the cabin, the Seal 08 boasts a large panoramic sunroof, with over 90% of the soft-touch materials using baby-grade eco-friendly leather. It achieves a space efficiency of 84.4%. The front seats are dual zero-gravity seats, complete with ventilation, heating, and massage functions for all seats. The rear seats are equipped with power-adjustable backrests, power leg rests, and a small foldable table on the back of the front passenger seat. The vehicle is fitted with BYD's super-smart assistant DiDiXia and features eight magnetic expansion points throughout the cabin for connecting devices like action cameras and tablets. It also has a three-zone smart climate control system. BYD's self-developed Lingdong smart buttons allow customization of over twenty common functions for one-touch control of devices like the ceiling screen and air conditioning. The 160L electric front trunk offers six opening methods, including exterior knock-to-unlock, physical exterior buttons, and in-car voice commands. The 533L trunk also features convenient access functionality and works in conjunction with the DiSus-A system, automatically lowering the suspension when the trunk is opened to facilitate loading and unloading.
For handling, the Seal 08 is equipped with the DiSus-A closed dual-chamber air suspension and a road preview system, along with a front double-wishbone and rear five-link chassis suspension, complemented by an active anti-motion sickness regulation system. In terms of performance, the DM all-wheel-drive version's dual motors deliver a combined power output of 400kW, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds. The EV all-wheel-drive version's motors produce a total power of 510kW, achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint in as fast as 3.3 seconds. The vehicle also features rear-wheel steering and intelligent crab-walking functionality, resulting in a turning radius of only 4.95 meters.
