It was announced yesterday that the third power supply line for the Tianjin LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) receiving terminal, operated by China Petrochemical Corporation's natural gas branch, has been successfully energized. This marks the completion of triple-power supply for all LNG receiving terminals in the city's Nangang Industrial Zone.
The Nangang Industrial Zone is a key national petrochemical industry base and a world-class chemical new materials hub. The Tianjin LNG receiving terminal, operated by Sinopec, and the Beijing Gas LNG Emergency Reserve Project, both located in the zone, play a critical role in supplying natural gas and serving as peak-shaving hubs for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Previously, these facilities relied on dual-power supply.
To enhance power reliability and mitigate risks posed by the coastal area's unpredictable microclimate, both companies planned to construct a third power cable line this year. The Beijing Gas LNG Emergency Reserve Project completed its third power supply line in April.
State Grid Tianjin Binhai Company proactively engaged with the companies to optimize power supply solutions. The newly constructed third power line utilizes full-cable transmission, significantly improving resilience against extreme weather and electromagnetic interference.
Given the Nangang Industrial Zone's challenging geological conditions and complex pipeline networks, cable installation was highly demanding. During construction, State Grid Tianjin Binhai Company coordinated with the Nangang Administrative Committee and other stakeholders to form a task force, ensuring timely completion while maintaining stable operations at the terminals.
