The unloading and foundation project for the handling system of Zhuhai Port's Gaolan Port Area National Energy Bulk Terminal, constructed by CCCC First Harbor Engineering Company, has successfully completed the unloading of structural components for two stacker-reclaimers and one reclaimer. This milestone marks the official commencement of on-site installation for the project.
The three single-unit machines are core equipment for the efficient operation of the bulk terminal. Due to their massive size, they were transported in segments and will be assembled on-site. The project team conducted thorough pre-shipment inspections and condition verifications to ensure the equipment arrived intact. A high-frequency coordination mechanism was established with shipping partners to monitor the voyage trajectory, sea conditions, and vessel status in real-time, ensuring safe and timely delivery across the long-distance journey.
The unloading dock is located just one kilometer from the project site, making the "last mile" of land transportation the key challenge. The team held safety and technical briefings, carefully studied lifting plans, optimized transport routes to mitigate risks, reinforced roads for weight-bearing capacity, and coordinated comprehensive traffic control measures to facilitate smooth transfer of the precision equipment.
Upon arrival, the equipment was seamlessly transferred using a "direct ship-to-truck" approach combined with an efficient segmented transport strategy. Multiple high-power hydraulic flatbed trucks directly transported components from port to site, minimizing docking time. Eight cranes were deployed for coordinated precision lifting to position all components accurately.
During the unloading process, the team worked through the National Day holiday with dedicated supervisors overseeing safety, quality control, and workflow coordination. Components were strategically placed near their installation locations to facilitate subsequent assembly.
Once operational, the stacker-reclaimers and reclaimer will integrate with the terminal's handling system to enable efficient material stacking, precise reclaiming, and transportation. This will achieve fully intelligent and efficient operations—from rapid ship unloading to smart stockyard management and seamless loading onto vessels or trains for outbound shipment.
