At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), Shanghai Airport Group signed import procurement agreements with four global suppliers—Netherlands-based Vanderlande, Switzerland’s Schindler Elevator, Japan’s Hitachi Elevator, and Mitsubishi Elevator—with a total contract value exceeding $260 million.

The signing ceremony, held on November 7, was part of the Shanghai State-Owned Assets Sub-Group’s centralized signing event and high-level open cooperation summit. Among the agreements, Shanghai Airport Group inked a $229 million deal with Vanderlande Industries for the baggage handling system in the terminal area of Pudong Airport’s Phase IV expansion project, marking the largest contract signed by the airport at this year’s CIIE.

These projects will support the ongoing construction of Pudong T3, enhancing transfer and boarding efficiency for international and domestic travelers. The baggage handling system developed with Vanderlande incorporates IoT and visual-assisted sorting technologies, enabling fully automated processing and precise tracking from check-in to loading. This system will help T3 achieve its "360" operational goals: 100% close-in gates, 100% interline flights, 100% automated baggage sorting, and a 60-minute transfer window.
